Choose Wisely

To anyone who needs help walking with the Lord,

Today as I joined the 7 ladies in our small group, I saw again an interest in God's Word!  When one of the ladies read John 14:23-24, we realized we had a choice to make.  The choice was to either obey Jesus or not to obey Jesus.  In these two verses Jesus says:

"If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.  .  .  .

He who does not love me will not obey my teaching."

So I shared a diagram with these dear women.  It's about following the Lord, sorta like following a road as you drive your car.  The road is showing you the way and the Lord will show us the way to go if we follow Him.  However, sometimes we slightly go off course and run on the rough shoulder of the road, it's a warning to get on the smooth road.  Same in our life, if we veer to the right or to the left and stop following the Lord's path, we can get in big trouble or maybe a little trouble at first.  And then we need to get right with our Lord and ask for forgiveness.  We need to get back on the road, the Lord's path, to faithfully going in the direction He desires.  As we live day after day we will see how faithful our God is and His ways are always the best!  Week 2, day 4 in the Bible study The Calm Within talks about obedience.  In Acts 5:17-42 Peter and the disciples wanted to "obey God rather than men!"  Is that your desire?  How can you do this today?  And tomorrow?  What is God calling you to do or give up?  It's your choice, so CHOOSE WISELY.

God is Doing a Great Thing Today

The Prison Ministry

Hi everyone who needs peace from our God in our anxious World,

Today has been a beautiful start to a new Bible Study class, The Calm Within.  I was given the opportunity to lead 10 women in this ten week in-depth Study on how to have peace from God in our anxious world.  As the books were given to each lady, I saw on their faces and heard a big thank-you.  They were amazed to have the opportunity to have their own book given to them for keeps.  The deputy gave a big ok for this opportunity and I praise God that these ladies have the chance to do Bible study.  In 2 Timothy 3:16 it says,

“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,”

The ladies listened as I shared the gospel from John 3, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23 and Romans 10:9.  And then as we prayed 2 ladies said the prayer to receive Jesus as their own personal Lord and Savior of their lives.  The heavens and angels rejoiced at that moment.  All of us should rejoice and praise God for what He has done.  Now these ladies have eternal life in heaven as it says in John 3:16.    Amen and Amen.  Pray as they do their homework in The Calm Within to grow and learn more of what being a Christian really is.  If you don’t understand what you need to do to be saved, born again or get to heaven read page iii in The Calm Within.  This page is titled “Make Peace with God.”

If you need a Bible study, The Calm Within, can be ordered at thecalmwithin@bellsouth.net

Honor God with your Body

Whenever someone talks about our bodies it is a sensitive subject. Yet, the Lord is so clear on this subject in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, where it says,

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."

As believers, we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in our bodies.  This gives us the power to honor God with the body He has given each one of us. Through the Holy Spirit working within us, we are able to bring God glory. This does not come by doing things of the world but doing the things of the Lord. As it says in Romans 12:2a,

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

The word for "transformed" in the Greek also means to be "changed" or "transfigured."  The power to be transformed comes from God as He works in our lives. If we seek to do God's will and live it out, God will change us from the inside out. We may not even immediately notice it but others around us will see it happen. They will say something like this, "I have seen a good change in you." This happened recently to a girl I have been discipling. It is evidence of a work of God in her life. God will transform us, "by the renewing of our minds."  In the Greek, the word for "renewing" also means "renovation." 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares that we are a new creation in Christ. This means all things become new, and even our minds will experience a renovation, a renewing. And this renewing of our thinking is a work of the Lord as well. God helps us with this and much more. This is God's will for our life. It is through His work. Our job is to continue to draw near to the Lord in prayer, and by reading, meditating, and studying the Word. Remember to live in the power that we are given, the Holy Spirit, and others will notice the change in you. Then we can give the glory to God. For it is Him who is at work in our lives.

God's Sovereignty (part 2)

100% Trustworthy

In Proverbs 3:5 it says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

Yes the Lord is trustworthy and we can trust Him with all our heart, not just part of our heart.   In the next verse it tells us how much scripture was given by inspiration of God.

In 2 Timothy 3:16 it says, "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,"

Again the word all is in this verse. Not just some but all scripture is God-breathed or given by inspiration of God. This tells us God is 100% trustworthy in His Word. We can feel secure  in all that He says because it is all 100% the truth. This gives us a comfort and peace in our lives.

Do you believe the whole Bible? We must be in it daily to get to know our Savior in a close and personal way. How much do you know about Jesus? He is our Messiah and Savior, may He be yours also. You will love His guidance in your life because He is the Truth, He cannot lie. He is the Way to God and He is the Life, that gives eternal life. Yes, Jesus is 100% trustworthy.

God's Sovereignty

God is all Powerful

Sovereign means "above all others; chief; supreme," in the Webster's dictionary. Our God is sovereign. He is all powerful. His power is evident in the creation all around us. He made everything in six days. This is explained in Genesis 1:1-31. We can't even begin to comprehend that kind of power. For He makes something out of nothing. Wow, our little finite minds can't even imagine the power of God. It makes us think of questions to ask God. How much power does God have and does His power ever run out? The answers are: He has enough power for all and His power never runs out. In Psalms 104:24 it says,

"How many are your works, O LORD!

 In wisdom you made them all;

the earth is full of your creatures."(NIV)

Have you personally seen God's power at work? How? May we look around every day to see His creation and be at awe. Our God is awesome in every way.

Forgiveness is freeing!

Matthew West in his song "Forgiveness" says,

It's the hardest thing to give away

The last thing on your mind today

It always goes to those who don't deserve

Yes this is so true.  This song really helped me with forgiveness! I realized that it was the best thing for me to do! I can't keep track of the wrongs done to me. I can't keep dwelling on the hurts people have done to me. I can't keep looking in the rear view mirror! Yes to forgiveness is what I choose to do. This can only be done by the power of the Holy Spirit in me. It is hard but necessary so I don't get bitter in my soul. A Bitter root will dry up the fruit on a tree and the limbs will eventually go limp too. This happens to a tree. Much more can happen to us if unforgiveness is not dealt with. We must forgive just as Jesus is our ultimate example. In Colossians 3:13 it says,

"Bear with each other and forgive whatever

grievances you may have against one

another.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you."

Jesus set us free when He forgave us so He will set us free when we forgive others. As the commercial says, "Try it you'll like it". It is proven to be successful for all involved. Also, praying for the person who has hurt us is very helpful in starting the forgiveness process. We will give the situation and/or person to God for wisdom. God will direct us and soften our hearts so we will forgive not just in word but in ACTION too!  This will give our life peace from God, the Prince of Peace. Believer be set free. Yes, Jesus sets the captives free and prisoners free too. He can do that for us believer.

Come Near to God

In James 4:8a it says, " Come near to God and He will come near to you."

This is the answer to our anxious world.  Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, " Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest." Jesus gives us all a promise in this verse. He will give us rest meaning in the greek, refresh, take ease. Yes, Jesus wants to refresh us. He will hold us when we are anxious or have fears or just can't fall asleep.  He says in the following verse, " Take His yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. "  He wants us to join with Him so He can teach and lead us like a shepherd leads his sheep, like a coach leads his team, like a tour guide leads his group. He wants us to follow Him so closely that we can reach out and touch Him. Submit ourselves to Him and we will not regret it. We will rejoice and see that the Lord is good.  Jesus yoke is easy and His burden is light! Do you believe this believer? Keep reading His Word and you will see it for yourself! May you be blessed as you follow Jesus. I am! He is the only one in this world who will not disappoint you believer and give you a calm within.
